THE HILARIOUS HIT - BUSTING OUT!
NEXT STOP NEW NEW SOUTH WALES

Profile

Following a critically-received sell-out tour in Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania, the hilarious hit show Busting Out! will be touring New South Wales August 17 to September 22.

No matter what your age, shape or size (or gender!) you’re in for a riotous night at Busting Out! that will release all your inhibitions. Join our bosom buddies for an evening that’s part musical, part stand up, part theatre and part cabaret, and you’ll be busting to tell your friends about the feel-good show of the decade!

Produced by Simon Bryce and Andrew Guild, Busting Out! has sold more than a quarter-million tickets and has grossed in excess of $10-million over 500 performances. Negotiations are underway to stage the smash hit Australian comedy in London, New York and Las Vegas. It is true to state that this theatrical 'sleeper' has become one of the biggest Australian theatrical success stories in years. Proceeds from the show have seen $50,000 raised for breast cancer research and support.

Created by Emma Powell (Mamma Mia) BUSTING OUT! combines skits, tricks and songs in an irreverent look at that much revered embodiment of womanhood – the breast.

“In this day and age, the silicone-enhanced, strategically placed appendage is admired for its beauty and image of perfection,” says Emma. ”Busting Out! takes real boobs and has a lot of fun with those idealised wobbly bits of flesh that are sexy and alluring to some, nurturing and beautiful to others, and useful and funny to us.”

Before creating BUSTING OUT! Emma Powell was well known for roles in hit musicals including Mamma Mia!, Fiddler on the Roof (with Topol) and Les Misérables. Her new show Dumped! The Musical We’ve All Been Through has just completed an 8 week season at Brisbane's Twelfth Night Theatre.

Together with Emma Powell, this smash hit musical comedy two hander brings together some of Australia's finest female comics including Bev Killick, Mandi Lodge, Katie Houghton, Louise Steele and Wendy Grose.

For Mandi Lodge relishes the opportunity to "air" her assets further on stage with her Bosom Buddies in "Busting Out!", whilst Wendy Grose is thrilled to be joining the cast in such a liberating role.

Tasteful, clever, liberating and laugh out loud funny!” DAILY TELEGRAPH

Performer Biographies

Mandi Lodge

Mandi was brought up in a small Northern England village near the town of Huddersfield! "There was a cow from Huddersfield who liked to have it's "uddersfield" quite apt I suppose!

Serving her apprenticeship as a singer on the Club circuit and starring in her local Operatic and Dramatic society Mandi found herself on the Cruise Ships.

Her talents were certainly noticed especially when her Halter Neck dress malfunctioned and her great attributes were on show for all to see.

Since arriving Downunder 10 years ago Mandi has starred as Mrs Lovett opposite the late Rob Guests "Sweeney Todd" and performed in numerous musical theatre shows, concerts, film and TV.

She relishes the opportunity to "air" her assets further on stage with her Bosum Buddies in "Busting Out!"

Their most recent collaboration s include a cabaret show, "When love comes to call" , featuring the beautiful melodies of Gershwin, Cole Porter, Weill, Kern and Blitzstein and a comedy show entitled "Mind your manners!" - a touring ‘musical TV show’, exploring the dilemmas of modern day etiquette . They have recorded a CD with label "Cracked Records" called "Look in my Eyes" .
Wendy was soprano soloist for the Royal Opera’s education department, is presently a teaching artist for the Victorian Arts Centre and is on the vocal staff at the University of Melbourne and Monash University.
