Supanova Pop Culture Expo celebrates its 10th Anniversary in 2012 after launching in 2002 in Sydney. In celebrating the extraordinary heights the expo has reached since its inception Supanova is extending to the Gold Coast for the first time this April. The Gold Coast expo (April 21 & 22) is combining with its Melbourne (April 14 & 15) counterpart to showcase Supanova’s decade of hard work in helping Australian fans express their inner geek in their own inimitable style, fun and colour with ultimately over 100,000 fans expected across Supanova’s six events during the year. Features include the opportunity to meet stars from film, TV, anime, comic-book and gaming cultures, the bustling atmosphere of trading floors, costuming with the Madman National Cosplay Championships, panels, seminars and much more in creating an all-ages event which has “something for everyone”. Supanova is truly the ultimate pop-culture expo experience. Supanova’s founder and Event Director, Daniel Zachariou, is looking forward to an epic year in 2012: “It really is fantastic to be celebrating our 10th Anniversary by expanding and consolidating as we’ve done throughout our decade long desire to be the best we can be for Australian fans of popular culture as we are pop-culture fans ourselves. That we’ve done so using a team drawn from friends, family and local enthusiasts in not only excellent but extremely gratifying. Each challenge has been embraced by the team and we look forward to once again greeting our Melbourne fans with another awesome event while also introducing the Gold Coast to our brand of fun. The Supanova family is grateful to have had the support of Australian fans for so long, and we’re delighted to be able to reach even more fans this year than ever before.” Supanova innovative and collaborative style in working for the best for Australian fans is also seen in the relationships that ten years of experience brings to bear including the recently formed exclusive cultural partnership with the Gold Coast Film Festival. Festival Director, Casey Marshall Siemer, says "Our new partnership with Supanova is incredibly exciting; it allows us to collaborate to extend fan experiences. People will be able to come to the Gold Coast, attend Supanova and see their favourite stars, then come to the film festival and see the latest work of those stars, then enjoy the beaches and the nightlife! I see this new alignment making our events the pre-eminent pop culture experience in Australia". Fans in Melbourne shouldn’t be surprised by some of the guests we’ll be announcing in the near future in working with other organisations based there either. For now though Supanova is proud to announce the following Supa-Stars as our initial film and TV guests for the upcoming Melbourne and Gold Coast expos in April: OLIVER AND JAMES PHELPS - Otherwise known as The Weasley Twins, Ron’s cheeky but courageous twin brothers, Fred and George Wesley, in the epic ‘Harry Potter’ film series.
