Profile

Fans will get the chance to meet their favourite Supa-Stars when Supanova Comic Con & Gaming – Australia’s biggest pop culture event – returns to Brisbane (November 10-12) and Adelaide (November 18-19).

Star Wars fans are in for a treat with animatronics puppeteer Brian Herring (Jim Henson’s Creature Shop), who brought to life one of the franchise’s most popular characters: droid BB-8, of Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

Finn Jones comes direct from his most exciting project to date: The Defenders. He’ll be reprising the title character from the Marvel series, Iron Fist. Finn is also well known for his role as Ser Loras Tyrell from Game of Thrones.

Supergirl’s Superman, Tyler Hoechlin will also be attendance. The Teen Wolf heartthrob is set to heat up the big screen in 2018, playing Boyce Fox in the next installment of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise.

For fans of the television adaption of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels is actor Graham McTavish. The Scotsman is well known for playing the dwarf Dwalin in The Hobbit Trilogy, and currently stars as The Saint of Killers in the series, Preacher.

Twenty years on and the legacy still beats strong for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Adding to the Supa-Star lineup is James Marsters, who played the punk-Goth vampire Spike, and his co-star Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris in the series. James can soon be seen in the new Marvel series Runaways, playing Victor Stein. Video gamers and cartoon fanatics get their share of celebrity too, with the likes of Will Friedle (Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Boy Meets World), Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach, Code Geass), Travis Willingham (Avengers Assemble, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and Laura Bailey (Avengers Assemble, Dragon Ball Z) sharing their insights into the world of voice acting.

Lastly, internationally renown costuming powerhouse Kamui Cosplay, otherwise known as Svetlana Quindt, is travelling from Europe to meet fans and share her know-how in all things costuming, make up, styling wigs and making props.

John Jarratt (Wolf Creek) is on board too, and continues to represent Supanova as their Supa-Star Ambassador. Production on series two Wolf Creek: A Stan Original Series has begun filming, with John back at the helm playing bloodthirsty Mick Taylor.

And that’s just a taste of things to come. There’s plenty more news in the lead-up to November.
